THANK YOU, THANK YOU & WELL DONE

01/25/2012: It has been really busy since we got back and I have a few things that must be said:

First, thank you so much to everyone who helped clean up our pitch. Thank you to those who swept, shovelled and sweated with me. Thank you to those who made the tea and to Dean who brought his own gear to cut up the old football goal. The place looks fantastic, really tidy; a place of which we can be proud. Ben the goalkeeper coach and who works for the city is trying to get a road cleaner in to vacuum the pitch to clear any remaining glass, before the pitch is marked out with 3 mini hockey pitches.

I am extremely proud of leading a Club that enjoys such wide ranging and committed support from its members and friends; well-done everyone.

Next, thank you to Steve Large for stepping in to the breach to finish the Leadership course. Despite a very busy work-life, Steve willingly accepted the challenge and did an excellent job, leaving the new coaches enthused and keen to get involved with developing new players. It is my hope that PHC leads the City by running a Leadership course annually before Christmas.

You may have noticed that we have two new adult volunteers. Ben and James are students and hockey players at the University of Plymouth; they have kindly offered to help the Club and may elect to undergo coach training in the future. Please give them the usual warm PHC welcome.

Now the "well dones". Well done to Ed, Kirsty and Ella who have been selected to for the Junior Assessment Camps (JACs) in Exeter. The JACs are the first step on the route to the regional squads. I hope that you will celebrate the success of these players and add to mine your congratulations.

Finally, well done to Emma, Francesca, Kelly, Joe, Matt, Nate & Kirsty who have successfully completed the Leadership course and are now all qualified as Foundation Coaches, Foundation Umpires and Foundation Managers. Their coaching experience will start with leading warm up exercises and umpiring with U9 matches; please support and encourage these players as they develop their skills.

She auditioned last October and was chosen to be a "panto babe". If you want to see her, she is in alternate shows until January 21st (i.e. 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 19th & 21st).

The fixtures for the remainder of the season have been published. Please note that some Badger Games will be played at Brickfields; this has been done to provide more playing opportunities for everyone. The new fixtures are on the website.

Leadership Course

12/12/2011: Steve Large has kindly agreed to deliver the coaching phase of the Leadership Course; this will happen on Sunday 15th January 2012. The course will assemble at Manadon at 0900 for a short presentation on Management by Rob. At 0945, Steve will take over and deliver the coaching part of the course. The course should finish by 1300 (at the latest). Course members are to present their course books to Rob with the umpiring section and test complete; this will be marked during the coaching phase.

Next Week (18 Dec).

12/12/2011: The next training session is the last before Christmas and will be a light-hearted affair. You are invited to dress in Christmas-y attire; a prize may be awarded for the best outfit. We will be playing mini-games for fun and there will be time for mince pies, clotted cream and any other items that you care to bring. Parents can also pick up a stick as there will be a parent's team. Rob has even threatened to play.
